Inspired by "The Day of Swings", a spring festival of Anthesteria in Ancient greek.
Anthesteria celebrated at the beginning of Spring is a festival in honour of Dionysis.
Inside, deep in their cups of overflowing wine, slaves and masters celebrated alike uniting the house in ancient fashion.
Outside, ghosts where believed to wonder the city.
According to Hyginius, the swing was used in Greece as a magical object to counteract the harmful effects of curses. The ritual was practiced during the Anthesteria.
The design "Ward" is simple yet inviting.
Just as the ancient Greeks would ritualistically use the magical swing to ward of ghosts and curses, so to Ward is intended to clear a space from darkness by radiating light and positivity in every direction.
Made from plated manilla rope coupled with the singular beauty and warmth of a natural maple wood fixture.
Embraced inside the manilla rope is a large Tillandsia Houston Air Plant. Circular in appearance with light silvery leaves the Air Plant boasts exotic pink blooms with dark purple flowers.
The design can be placed on any smooth wall damage-free including painted walls, glass, wood or tiles. The Air Plant can easily be removed for watering without removing or damaging the design itself.
